Dumbwaiter also know as food elevator or food dumbwaiter, is very convenient to transfer dishes or small packages between floors, it’s widely used in restaurants, hotels and similar establishments. However, many people have no idea of the key factors to consider before installation of such a dumbwaiter. We run many cases that when clients come and ask design of a dumbwaiter, they reserve a very small shaft which is not big enough to install the dumbwaiter.
This checklist will help you to better understand what’s required and ensure a smooth installation process for your food elevator.
- Where will the dumbwaiter used?
- We need aware where the dumbwaiter will be used, in a small restaurant or a 5-star hotel, or home use? Under different situation, we need to consider what will the loading capacity and using frequency be.
- For home use or small restaurant, basically a 50kg capacity dumbwaiter will be good enough for use, cabin size could be 500*500*600mm or 600*600*600mm. Normally they are counter loading.
- If for big hotel use, beside for food delivery between different floor, there might also require of luggage handling or dirty clothes or bed sheets handling. Under such situation, a floor loading dumbwaiter is better, because it allow handle trolley loading too.
- What shaft size to reserve?
Reserve a sufficient shaft before install a food dumbwaiter is very very important, as we already seen many client’s site space is too small to design and install a proper dumbwaiter. Here we strongly suggest you reserve a shaft space no less than 900*900mm, better 1000*1000mm or bigger. If its floor loading type, you also need to reserve a pit with depth 800mm. Otherwise, too small shaft will be very hard for a person get into the shaft and finish the installation.
- What power required for a dumbwaiter?
For LGC series dumbwaiter, 3phase power supplier is better than single phase power. So we suggest clients check first if site has 3 phase power. Also because 3 phase power supply is more stable. Price of dumbwaiter under 3 phase is cheaper than 1 phase. For voltage, we could customize per site needs, such as 208V 220V 240V 380V 400V 415V, 50Hz or 60Hz all no problem with LGLIFT.
